RV Organica Clove Bud and Clove Leaf Essential Oil Bottles in a Clean Manufacturing and Storage Facility

Quick answer: Pick a clove oil manufacturer in India who tells you upfront: bud, leaf or stem? Then ask for the batch COA. Eugenol figure, density, the lot. We distil clove bud and leaf oil ourselves at RV Organica in Nimbri, Panipat. Sample bottle to 25 kg pack, nine certifications, COA whenever you want it.

The email usually starts the same way. "Need clove oil, 20 kg, best price."

Fair. But which clove oil? For toothpowder or for floor cleaner? Bud or leaf? Because the answer changes almost everything, from the price to the paperwork.

I work with the buyer support team at our essential oil manufacturing facility in Nimbri, Panipat. Clove oil inquiries come in every week, from Ayurvedic brands, toothpaste makers, soap units and traders. So here's the stuff I'd love every buyer to read first.

Why does choosing the right clove oil manufacturer matter so much?

Honestly? Clove oil gets faked a lot. And plenty of so called clove oil manufacturer in India listings are really just traders with a nice website.

Leaf oil gets sold as bud oil. Clove oil gets cut with cheaper carriers. A batch smells right but the eugenol number is way off. If you're making a dental product, any of these can land you in trouble with your own customers, or worse, a regulator.

A genuine clove oil manufacturer in India controls the distillation. A trader just relabels whatever arrived that month. You want the first one.

What types of clove oil can you buy in bulk?

Three, mainly. One tree gives you all three, Syzygium aromaticum.

Bud oil first. Made from dried flower buds, priced higher, smells gentler. Oral care brands want this one. So do Ayurvedic formulators and perfumers. Clove leaf oil is distilled from leaves. Cheaper. Soap units love it, detergent and cleaner brands too, and it turns up in mosquito repellents. Stem oil? That's from the little twigs, and you'll mostly see it in flavour work or industrial use.

Not sure which your formula needs? Read our clove bud oil vs clove leaf oil piece. Real lab numbers, zero jargon.

What should a clove oil COA actually show?

This is where most buyers stop at "eugenol 80%" and move on. Don't.

First, the basics on top. Which part of the plant? Batch number? Date? Then the numbers. Eugenol content. Relative density. Refractive index too. Optical rotation. What it looks like, colour included.

Want a yardstick? Here's one commercial spec sheet for clove bud oil I keep handy. Density 1.038 to 1.060 at 25°C. Refractive index 1.527 to 1.535 at 20°C. Optical rotation somewhere between minus 2 and 0. Colourless to pale yellow. Flash point near 88°C (190°F) closed cup.

Your COA way off from that? Stop. Ask before money changes hands.

Which Indian standards apply to clove oil?

Good question, and one few clove oil suppliers in India bring up.

In January 2024, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) circulated draft Indian Standards for clove oils through its Fragrance and Flavour Sectional Committee, PCD 18. Document PCD 18 (24568) covers oil of clove buds and is an identical adoption of ISO 3142:1997. Document PCD 18 (24569) covers oil of clove stems, adopting ISO 3143:1997.

Both drafts point to the IS 326 series for testing. Density is Part 3. Optical rotation, Part 4. Part 5 handles refractive index, and phenol content sits in Part 12.

Drafts can change, so confirm the latest with BIS before it goes into any contract. But here's a neat trick. Ask a supplier, "Do you test to IS 326?" Watch their face. You'll know in five seconds.

How much eugenol should good clove bud oil have?

It depends on origin and harvest more than people expect.

Researchers at CIMAP Lucknow, writing in the Flavour and Fragrance Journal in 2005, found 82.6% eugenol in a Madagascar bud oil and just 70.0% in an Indian bud sample, which carried far more beta caryophyllene. LiverTox, the NIH database, gives a wide band of 70 to 90%.

There's no magic number to chase. Agree on a minimum with your supplier. Write it down. Then hold every batch COA up against it.

Who buys clove oil in bulk in India?

More industries than you'd guess.

Oral care is the big one. Think herbal toothpaste. Manjan. Mouthwash, dental drops. They want that numbing, fresh bite only bud oil really gives. Selling to consumers? Then see how they actually use it, in our guides on how to use clove oil for toothache and clove oil for teeth.

Pain balm makers buy it, the Ayurvedic kind especially. Massage oil brands. Soap people, cosmetic people. Somebody making a herbal floor cleaner in Ludhiana, probably. Incense and agarbatti units. Even flavour houses, for some food and beverage applications, though that needs food grade documentation of its own.

How does private label clove oil work?

Simple, mostly. You pick oil and pack. We fill, stick your label on, dispatch.

Your homework before we start? Your label artwork, including the legal details your category needs. Pack size, 10 ml dropper or 30 ml bottle or a litre can, your call. And your quantity, because private label MOQs are usually different from plain wholesale orders.

Making something for shoppers? Picture who's buying. Someone who just googled laung for toothache at midnight wants dilution steps printed right there on the box. Get that label right and your support inbox stays quiet.

What pack sizes and packaging can you order?

Our clove bud essential oil ships in seven sizes, starting at 100 ml and going 500 ml, 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg, 25 kg. Same sizes for the clove leaf essential oil.

Little bottles are for R&D. Formula final? Jump to 5 kg or 25 kg. Per kilo it's cheaper, and every batch of your product smells the same.

One thing about clove oil, it's a strong phenolic. Cheap plastic won't love it. Keep the lid tight, the drum out of the sun, and don't leave a half empty drum sitting open for months.

How do you check a clove oil manufacturer before placing a big order?

Start small with any clove oil manufacturer in India. Test a sample yourself, or send it to an outside lab.

Want the COA? Make sure it's for your batch, not some old template. Match the GST and Udyam numbers to the name on the invoice. Then ask straight out: do you distil this, or buy it from someone? And if you can, visit. A real facility is happy to show you around.

FAQs on clove oil manufacturers in India

Final thoughts

Finding a clove oil manufacturer in India? Forget the cheapest quote for a second. What's actually inside that drum is the real question. Get bud or leaf confirmed in writing. Match the COA to a real spec. Sample first. The right supplier will welcome all three.
