The Carnauba Wax Candle Making Kit is built around 250 g of carnauba wax, a hard vegan palm wax that melts at about 82 to 86 °C, with fragrance oils, colours, wick, a silicone mould and tools. Carnauba works best blended in small amounts with soy wax or beeswax to firm moulded candles and add gloss, rather than used on its own. It suits vegan makers and candle sellers in hot climates.
A Carnauba Wax Candle Making Kit is a candle-making set built around carnauba wax, a hard vegan wax from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm (Copernicia prunifera). RV Organica's kit includes 250 g of carnauba wax, two 10 ml candle fragrance oils, two 10 ml candle wax colours, 10 g of dried flowers, a 2 metre roll of pre-waxed cotton wick, a silicone candle mould, a spatula, a dropper and a pair of gloves, packed at our facility in Nimbri, Panipat, Haryana.
Carnauba wax is scraped from the leaves of the carnauba palm, which makes it fully plant-based and suitable for vegan candles. It is one of the hardest natural waxes known, with a melting point of about 82 to 86 °C, much higher than soy or beeswax. In candles it is mainly valued as a hardener: a small amount raises the melting point of a softer wax, helps moulded candles hold their shape, and gives the surface a glossy finish.
Honestly, it is not recommended. Carnauba is very hard and brittle on its own, so a pure carnauba candle is prone to cracking and can burn poorly. Most makers blend it with a softer wax such as soy or beeswax, usually as a small share of the total blend. You can pair this kit with soy wax or beeswax from our candle waxes collection and use the carnauba to firm up the mix.
Melt the softer wax first over a water bath, then add the carnauba and keep stirring with the spatula until it has dissolved completely, since it needs more heat than other waxes. Start with a small proportion of carnauba and increase it in test batches until the candle feels firm enough without becoming brittle. Let the blend cool a little, add fragrance and colour with the dropper, fix the wick in the centre of the silicone mould, and pour. Decorate with dried flowers, let it set fully, and trim the wick to about 6 mm.
Carnauba melts at roughly 82 to 86 °C, compared with about 49 to 52 °C for soy wax and 62 to 64 °C for beeswax, so your blend will need a higher melting temperature than either soft wax alone. Candle fragrance loads are commonly quoted at 6 to 10 percent of total wax weight. A thermometer is essential with carnauba, because the gap between its melting point and the softer wax's pour temperature is large. Internationally, candle fragrances are covered by IFRA Category 12 under the International Fragrance Association's standards.
Any fragrance oil made for candles will work, and you can choose from our candle fragrance oils. Carnauba itself has a pale yellow to light brown tone, so it can slightly warm the colour of your blend. Bright and deep shades hold up well; very pale pastels may look a touch creamier. More colours are available in our candle dye range.
This kit suits makers who want to make vegan candles, improve the firmness of pillar and moulded candles, or experiment with wax blends. It is a good next step after a soy or beeswax kit, and it is especially useful in hot climates where soft candles can sag. For a business, small additions of carnauba can noticeably improve the look and shelf life of moulded candles. Add shapes from our candle moulds to build a range.
Carnauba needs higher heat than other waxes, so take extra care: always use a water bath, never a direct flame, and never leave melting wax unattended. Wear gloves while handling hot wax, keep fragrance oils and colours away from children and pets, and do not apply fragrance oil to skin. Burn finished candles on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts.
Is carnauba wax vegan?
Yes. Carnauba comes from the leaves of a palm tree, so it contains no animal-derived ingredients, unlike beeswax.
Why did my carnauba candle crack?
Too much carnauba makes a blend brittle. Reduce the share of carnauba, pour at a steady temperature and let the candle cool slowly at room temperature.
Do I need to buy another wax to use this kit?
For good results, yes. Carnauba works best as a hardener in a blend with soy wax or beeswax, which you can buy separately.
