The Soy Wax Candle Making Kit is a complete starter set with 250 g of soy wax, two candle fragrance oils, two wax colours, dried flowers, pre-waxed wick, a silicone mould and tools. Soy wax melts at about 49 to 52 °C, which makes it the easiest wax for first-time candle makers. It suits beginners, gifting and anyone testing recipes before starting a candle business.
A Soy Wax Candle Making Kit is a complete starter set that lets you make scented candles at home from natural soy wax, without hunting down each supply separately. RV Organica's kit carries 250 g of soy wax flakes, two 10 ml candle fragrance oils, two 10 ml candle wax colours, 10 g of dried flowers, a 2 metre roll of pre-waxed cotton wick, a silicone candle mould, a spatula, a dropper and a pair of gloves, all packed at our facility in Nimbri, Panipat, Haryana.
Everything you need for a first batch is in the box, so you only have to add a heat source and a heat-safe pouring jug. The soy wax is the base, the two fragrance oils give you a choice of scent, and the two wax colours let you tint the candle or mix a third shade of your own. Dried flowers decorate the surface, the pre-waxed wick is ready to cut to length, and the silicone mould releases the finished candle cleanly. Gloves, a spatula and a dropper cover the handling and measuring.
Soy wax is made from hydrogenated soybean oil, so it is a plant-based wax rather than a petroleum one. It melts at a fairly low temperature, which makes it forgiving to work with on a home stove, and it cleans up with warm soapy water. Many makers also like it because it holds fragrance well and burns at a slower, cooler rate than paraffin. If you later want to try other bases, our candle waxes collection carries beeswax, carnauba and candelilla as well.
Melt the soy wax gently in a double boiler or a heat-safe jug set in a pan of hot water, stirring with the spatula. Once it is fully liquid, let it cool a little, add your fragrance oil and colour with the dropper, and stir slowly for about two minutes so the scent binds into the wax. Fix a length of wick in the centre of the mould, pour the wax in steadily, and press a few dried flowers onto the surface while it is still soft. Leave the candle to set completely before unmoulding, then trim the wick to roughly 6 mm before lighting.
Soy wax generally melts at around 49 to 52 °C, and published wax temperature guides place its pour temperature at about 54 to 66 °C, with fragrance added while the wax is near 80 °C. A typical fragrance load for soy candles is 6 to 10 percent of the wax weight, so for 250 g of wax that works out to roughly 15 to 25 ml of fragrance oil. The two 10 ml bottles in this kit sit comfortably within that range for one batch. Use only oils made for candles, such as our candle fragrance oils, since skin and soap oils are not designed for open flame.
Fragrance safety for candles is governed internationally by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), whose 49th Amendment moved candles and other home fragrance products into IFRA Category 12. Choosing fragrance oils intended for candle use, and staying within the usage level the supplier recommends, is the sensible way to stay within those guidelines. The colours in this kit are wax dyes, not pigments for skin products, and you can find more shades in our candle dye range once you want to expand your palette.
Yes, and that is a big part of why we built it. A kit lets you test wax behaviour, scent strength and colour before you spend on bulk raw material, which saves a lot of wasted stock. Once you know which scent and look your buyers like, you can move to larger packs of wax, fragrance and colour from us, and add more shapes from our candle moulds to build a small product range. Many home candle businesses start with exactly this kind of trial batch.
Never leave melting wax unattended, and never heat wax directly over a flame without a water bath. Keep fragrance oils and colours away from children and pets, wear the gloves while handling hot wax, and do not apply fragrance oil to skin. When burning the finished candle, keep it on a heat-resistant surface, away from curtains and drafts, and never leave a lit candle alone.
How many candles can I make with this kit?
The number depends on the size of the mould and how full you pour it. The kit holds 250 g of wax, which is enough for one batch in the included silicone mould, and you can buy more wax separately to keep using the mould, wick and tools.
Can I use the soy wax for container candles too?
Soy wax is widely used in jars and tins, and many makers prefer it there because it adheres well to glass. If you pour into a container, use a heat-safe jar and secure the wick at the bottom before pouring.
Why does my soy candle have a bumpy top?
Soy wax can form a slightly uneven or frosted surface as it cools, which is normal and does not affect burning. Pouring at a slightly lower temperature and letting the candle cool slowly at room temperature usually gives a smoother top.
