It is a reddish brown to dark brown liquid with a rich, exotic, warm floral scent with sweet vanilla, peach and spicy tea-like notes. Typical values are a specific gravity of about 0.960, a refractive index of 1.481 to 1.522 at 20 °C and a flash point above 80 °C. It dissolves in alcohol and fixed (carrier) oils and does not dissolve in water, and it keeps for 2 years when stored sealed in a cool, dark place.
