Quick answer: Honeysuckle Essential Oil is a solvent-extracted absolute from the flowers of Lonicera caprifolium, with a sweet, heady, honeyed floral aroma and soft citrus and fruity undertones. It is used in perfumery, soaps, lotions, body mists, diffusers and candles. It is sold under the common name honeysuckle essential oil, with a two year shelf life and COA and MSDS available on request. It comes in 100 ml and 500 ml bottles for home use and 1 kg to 25 kg packs for brands and bulk buyers.
Honeysuckle Essential Oil is the aromatic extract of honeysuckle flowers. RV Organica’s Honeysuckle Essential Oil is an absolute, meaning it is obtained by solvent extraction of freshly harvested flowers rather than by steam distillation. It is a thin to medium liquid, orange-green to green-brown in colour, packed at our facility in Nimbri, Panipat, Haryana, and offered in sizes from 100 ml to 25 kg.
Honeysuckle is a climbing flowering shrub known for the sweet scent its blossoms release in the evening. The flowers are delicate and yield very little oil, and heat damages their fragrance, so the scent is usually captured by solvent extraction instead of distillation. The flowers are washed with a solvent that dissolves the aroma compounds, the solvent is removed, and what remains is a concentrated, fragrant absolute. This is why honeysuckle oil is coloured and slightly viscous, unlike a clear distilled oil.
The aroma comes from a mix of floral and honeyed compounds, including linalool, geraniol, nerol, α-terpineol, benzyl alcohol, farnesol and eugenol. Linalool, geraniol, eugenol, farnesol and benzyl alcohol are among the fragrance allergens that EU cosmetics rules require makers to declare on product labels above set thresholds, so formulators should check labelling requirements for their market.
Honeysuckle smells sweet, rich and floral, like warm summer blossoms, with honey, soft citrus and ripe fruit underneath. It is heady and romantic rather than green or sharp. It brings the nostalgic sweetness of a garden at dusk to a blend, which makes it a favourite in floral and fruity-floral compositions.
Add a few drops to a diffuser to fill a room with a sweet, light floral scent. It suits living rooms, bedrooms and entrance areas, and it works well in spring and summer blends. For a classic floral bouquet, pair it with jasmine essential oil or neroli essential oil. Our diffuser oils collection has more combinations to try.
Always dilute honeysuckle oil before it touches the skin. It dissolves in alcohol and fixed oils but not in water, so mix it into a carrier oil first. The right ratio depends on how much you are making and where it will be used, and our essential oil dilution calculator works it out for you. Once diluted, it adds a sweet floral note to body oils, lotions, creams and massage blends. It also works in body mists and room sprays, where its light, airy scent shows well.
Yes. In soap, add it to your soap base at the level your formulation recommends, and remember that its colour can tint pale bases. In candles, test a small batch first, because floral scents are delicate and scent throw changes with wax type and wick size. In perfumery it works as a heart note that adds honeyed sweetness, and it pairs well with rose, ylang ylang, bergamot, grapefruit, lavender, sandalwood, patchouli, geranium, mandarin and frankincense. In hair products it adds a pleasant fragrance to sprays and mists.
The botanical name is Lonicera caprifolium and the CAS number is 8024-22-4. The oil has a specific gravity of 0.943, a relative density of 0.922 to 0.965, a refractive index of 1.470 to 1.490 at 20°C, a flash point above 75°C and moisture content of up to 0.1 percent. It is a liquid to slightly viscous liquid with a thin to medium consistency, orange-green to green-brown in colour, with a sweet, heady, honeyed floral odour. The shelf life is two years, and it is soluble in alcohol and fixed oils and insoluble in water.
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place away from heat and direct sunlight. Close the cap straight after each use, because air and light speed up oxidation and dull the aroma over time. Stored well, the oil keeps its quality for the full two year shelf life.
Honeysuckle essential oil is for external use only. Do not ingest it. Always dilute it in a carrier oil before applying it to the skin, do a patch test first, and avoid direct sunlight on treated skin. Keep it away from children and pets, and consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant or nursing. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Yes. The oil is available in 100 ml, 500 ml, 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 25 kg packs, which suits home users, small makers and manufacturers. COA and MSDS can be requested for each batch. For wholesale or private label enquiries, write to info@rvorganica.com.
RV Organica sells Honeysuckle Essential Oil in 100 ml and 500 ml bottles for home users and small makers, and in 1 kg, 5 kg, 10 kg, 20 kg and 25 kg packs for perfume, cosmetic, soap, candle and aromatherapy brands. Every size comes from the same batch process at our facility in Nimbri, Panipat, so a brand can test a small bottle first and then reorder in bulk with a consistent aroma. For quantities above 25 kg, regular monthly supply or private label orders, write to info@rvorganica.com or call +91 8937003005.
Orders are packed in sealed containers and dispatched from Nimbri, Panipat, Haryana, and shipped across India, with free delivery on orders above ₹999; we also export to overseas buyers. Each batch is checked before dispatch, and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) are available for every batch, which most brands need for their records and compliance. Dilute it before skin use and patch test first, as its linalool, geraniol and eugenol can irritate sensitive skin, and do not swallow it.
